What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a natural health care that focuses on the spine and the nervous system.
The nervous system comprises of the brain, spinal cord and the nerves that help control and coordinate all the functions of the body. The spine is there to protect the spinal cord and allow our body to move freely.

As we live our lives, we face different stresses. Physical, chemical or emotional stress to name a few. These stress act on the function of our body and the nervous system, especially the spine. This dysfunction in the spine and the nervous system is what chiropractors call “vertebral subluxation”.

Chiropractors analyse the spine, locate these subluxations in the spine and correct it through an adjustment.

Chiropractors can help anyone from babies to elderly to improve their health and function of the body. For further information please visit https://www.chiropractic.org.nz/.

FAQ

How does chiropractic adjustment work?

It is based on the fact that our body is controlled by the nervous system. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. The brain is protected by the skull, and the spinal cord and nerve roots are covered and protected by the 24 moveable vertebrae, together aka spine. From physical, emotional and even chemical stress can cause these moveable vertebrae to misalign, and that can affect the function of the nervous system by putting pressure on the nerves (Vertebral Subluxation).

Chiropractors thoroughly scan the spine and detect the vertebral subluxation, and corrects them to restore the function of the spine and the nervous system.
